Sinossi

Svjetlana, una ragazza di Mostar, Bosnia-Erzegovina, ha lasciato la sua città di origine allo scoppio della Guerra. Da allora sono passati 12 anni. Svjetlana vive negli USA e non è mai più tornata nella sua città.

La sua migliore amica, una ragazza italiana, ha raccolto ore ed ore di telefonate in cui Svjetlana parla della sua Bosnia e, con quel bagaglio di ricordi, si reca in quei luoghi per fare una sorta di sopralluogo.

Svjetlana potrà tornare a casa? Le sue sono solo paure, o davvero per le strade camminano ancora gli assassini che hanno ucciso la sua Bosnia?

Synopsis

Svjetlana’s best friend, Claudia, travels to Mostar and Sarajevo filming what she finds on her way. The words of her friend’s night-long phone calls from the States are loud in her mind, while she searches for the elements that can make Svjetlana want to return home. Unfortunately Claudia cannot find them.

Svjetlana left Bosnia in 1992 just after the start of the war. She lost her roots, effects and dreams and is afraid of returning. Claudia’s desire is to have her friend close to her once more and to free her from the obsession of the tragic events that obliged her to leave. She thinks this journey will help her convince Svjetlana to return.

The narration develops through the telephone conversations, family archives and the material shot by Claudia in the troubled Bosnia of today. Mostar, the battered town where the ethnical divide is still intense, the graves and landmines in the region and the once multi-cultured and joyfull town of Sarajevo.

Sinossi

Dopo aver combattuto nella guerra di Bosnia-Erzegovina per proteggere il Ponte e la sua Mostar, Mensud è impegnato in una nuova battaglia: trasmettere alle nuove generazioni il senso dell’unità e dell’amicizia.

Divisa e avvelenata dall’odio nazionalista, Mostar non è più la Montmartre dei Balcani che era prima della guerra, ma piuttosto due ghetti separati da un grande boulevard. Solo il Velez Football Club, la squadra leggendaria di Mostar, è rimasta a testimoniare il passato multiculturale della città.

Sul campo della sua scuola calcio, Mensud insegna ad un esercito di ragazzini il valore dell’amicizia e dell’unità. Ma suo figlio Dzenan, uno dei suoi allievi, non sopporta più di vivere in una città dimezzata, sogna un ingaggio in Europa e una vita tranquilla, lontana dall’odio. La separazione sembra l’unico epilogo possibile, perché sul campo del Velez, c’è già una nuova generazione ad attendere Mensud.

Synopsis

Mensud fought in the Bosnian war, defending his hometown Mostar and the Old Bridge. Now that peace has returned and the Old Bridge has been rebuilt, Mensud is fighting once again, this time against the new nationalist mentality.

Torn apart and enraged by ethnical conflict, Mostar is more like two ghettos divided by a big boulevard, than the joyful Montmartre of the Balkans that it was before the war.

From the pitch of the Velez football school, the legendary team of Mostar, Mensud teaches an army of kids the value of friendship and unity. His son, Dzenan, one of his players, cannot stand this struggle any longer. He dreams of playing for a major European team and living in a safe environment.
